WILLIAM RICKARBY MILLER (American, 1818-1893) “GRIST MILL, SLEEPY HOLLOW, TARRYTOWN”. Oil on canvas scene shows an old mill with working water wheel with a small stream framed with trees. All under a blue and white cloud sky. Signed lower left “W R Miller 1891”. Housed in a fine period gesso decorated gilt frame. Kennedy Gallery label affixed to reverse indicates the scene in Tarrytown, New York. A Wallace Gallery label indicates this was probably painted as a part of a series which Miller called “1000 Gems of American Landscape”. SIZE: 20″ x 16″. CONDITION: Relined, some inpainting.
