*SCARCE PARKER DHE GRADE DOUBLE BARREL SHOTGUN. Cal. 28 ga. SN 174488. Built on a “00” frame with lightning cuts in the water table and 28” Titanic Steel bbls choked IMP-MOD/IMP-MOD with tapered, concave, matted rib, dbl ivory beads, doll’s head rib extension, ejectors & gold plated dbl triggers. Mounted with beautiful flame & shell grain, checkered American walnut with splinter forearm & pistol grip stock with checkered, raised, teardrop side panels, 14-1/4” over a skeleton checkered buttplate. Bottom of stock has a blank silver oval initial plate. Triggerguard is, unusually, affixed with two engraved screws. Receiver has custom “D” engraving with a pointer on left side, a setter in an unusual pose on right side and another setter in a field scene on floorplate, all surrounded by foliate arabesque patterns with maker’s name in a ribbon on each side. No record of this shotgun was found in Parker Gun Identification & Serialization book. Bore diameter: left – .557, right – .557. Bore restrictions: left – .021, right – .021. Unable to gauge wall thickness. Drop at heel: 2-3/8”, drop at comb: 1-5/8”. Weight: 6 lbs. .64 oz. CONDITION: Very fine. Retains virtually all of an old, fine, professionally restored finish, probably by Del Grego, many years ago. Bbl finish is slightly thinned over forearm area with some light muzzle edge wear and a few scattered spots of light surface rust. Case colors on receiver are bright. Wood is sound with minor nicks & scratches with some chemical bubbling of forearm finish & crazing on right side of buttstock. Mechanics are fine, bright shiny bores. 4-30557 JR409 (15,000-25,000)
