R.J. HORNER, NY, CARVED MAHOGANY CHINA CABINET. Last quarter 19th century. This fine rectangular labeled cabinet with bow front and bowed glass sides having a floral rosette and guilloche carved frieze above the central bowed glass door flanked by athemion and acanthus-carved pilasters headed by fully carved lions’ masks. The interior fitted with four conforming glass shelves, the back with mirrored panels, the whole raised on hairy claw feet. The back affixed with the original label: “R.J. Horner & Co. Furniture Makers & Importers, 61, 63, & 65 West 23rd Street, New York.” SIZE: 66-1/2″ h. x 50″ w. x 19″ d. PROVENANCE: From an extensive private Gulf Coast collection. CONDITION: Retains original finish with dark brown patina. Glass sides and door, mirror back, and plate glass shelves all original. Very good condition overall. 9-93306 (6,000-9,000)
