FINE GERMAN TARGET RIFLE.

FINE GERMAN TARGET RIFLE. Cal. Unknown. A type of Zimmerschutzen rifle with 18-3/4” swamped medium weight oct bbl, fine original bbl sights, with a large front bore but no provision for a cartridge of that size at the rear. It is bolt action with the bolt handle missing. It is mounted in a 1-pc schutzen stock with iron furniture, a schutzen trigger guard with wide spaced double set triggers and elaborately carved and checkered buttstock. It has a swivel stud in the stock and a schutzen style buttplate. The top tang has a square base for a tang sight. All in all, a very unusual little rifle that is possibly missing some other bolt parts. CONDITION: Metal retains a very dark even patina overall. Stock is missing a sliver on the right side by the receiver and has another chip that is loose, otherwise is sound with a dark dirty patina.
