RARE JOHN HENRY BELTER LAMINATED ROSEWOOD SWIVEL ARMCHAIR. Circa 1860. This unique example with solid laminated shield back with conforming padded upholstered panel joined to scrolled undulating arms with outscrolled grips on incurved rosewood supports centering the shield-form upholstered seat with serpentine molded front rail, joined to and swiveling on a bentwood-form molded four-legged base, raised on brass casters. SIZE: 37″ h. of back. 18″ w. of seat. PROVENANCE: From an extensive private Gulf Coast collection. CONDITION: Very good overall, retaining fine old surfaces and very good patina.
