JOHN FRENCH SLOAN (American, 1871-1951) “RENDEZVOUS” (“MISS AGNES ENTERS, 1926”). Small etching shows a woman in costume walking through opening in curtain. Inscribed in plate “John Sloan 26 Miss Agnes Enters”. Pencil signed lower right below image “John Sloan” and inscribed “Enters 1927 with best wishes from Dolly + J.S.” It is our understanding that these were given out as Christmas cards and there is some evidence that 100 proofs were made, imprinted by John Sloan. This particular one was given to Alexander Brook and Peggy Bacon. Housed in a good gilt molded wood frame with archival glass and linen matte. SIZE: Sight: 4-1/4″ x 3-1/2″. Image: 3″ x 3″.
