*UNMARKED DOUBLE RIFLE. Cal. 8X57JR. SN 23113. This fine quality double rifle has 23-1/2” bbls with flat, matted rib, ramp front sight, 2-leaf rear sight with claw mount bases containing a Zeiss Zielvier scope of about 4X with crosshair post & dot. Mounted with very nicely figured French walnut with fine checkered, horn tip, splinter forearm and pistol grip stock with raised side panels & cheekpiece, 14” over a serrated horn buttplate. It also has a horn triggerguard & fluted horn grip cap. Receiver has side clips with side reinforcements, cocked indicators and is lightly engraved with arabesque patterns. The dbl triggers are both set. The bbl has a screwed on safari sling swivel with a corresponding swivel in butt containing a narrow European style leather sling. Accompanied by eleven boxes of Sellier & Bellot 8X57JR ammunition with 196 grain soft point bullets, appear to be all full & orig. Drop at heel: 2-3/8”, drop at comb: 1-5/16”. Weight with scope: 7 lbs. 11.52 oz. CONDITION: Fine. Bbls retain about 90-92% strong orig blue with a few spots of light rust. Receiver retains 15-20% case colors in very sheltered areas with balance turned silver. Forearm has a few chips from bbl channel on each side with a repaired splinter and the stock has a couple of hairlines back of receiver, otherwise wood is sound with normal handling & use marks showing moderate to heavy wear and overall retains most of an old wiped on finish.
