ROCOCO REVIVAL, IN THE MANNER OF R.J. HORNER, CARVED MAHOGANY DINING ENSEMBLE. First quarter 20th century. Consisting of a massive round banquet table with four additional leaves, a matched pair of open sideboards, and matching open serving table. The round dining table raised on a central pedestal with four scrolling supports embellished at the top with carved clusters of fruit and terminating in stepped, molded, square feet on casters. The pedestal designed to open as leaves are added to the table. The apron is fitted with two additional extensions. The sideboards and matching server each fitted with a carved and crested splashguard, joined to the ‘D’-form rectangular molded top above conforming apron, the sideboards fitted with aligned center drawers and pivoting end drawers. Each raised on ‘S’-scrolled acanthus-carved supports embellished with fruit garlands joined to open shelves, raised on gadrooned and leaftip carved molded plinths, terminating in shaped square feet. SIZE: Table: 30″ h. x 54″ dia. with four additional 10-1/2″ leaves. Sideboards: Each 57″ h. overall x 40″ work surface h. x 72″ overall w. x 25-1/2″ overall d. Serving table: 47″ overall h. x 37″ work surface h. x 46″ overall w. x 19″ d. PROVENANCE: From an extensive private Gulf Coast collection.
