RARE COLT LIGHTNING BABY CARBINE.

RARE COLT LIGHTNING BABY CARBINE. Cal. 38 WCF (38-40). SN 73389. Late carbine with 20-1/2” bbl, Baker square base front sight with Colt reverse mounted carbine ladder rear sight, missing the base screw. It is made with sliding breech cover and without safety and has a staple and ring in the left side of the receiver. The wood is straight grain American walnut with checkered 2-pc forearm and straight stock with carbine buttplate. Ex Eldon Owens collection. CONDITION: About good. No orig finish remains being a medium gray patina overall with fine surface pitting, heavier on the bbl & magazine tube. Wood is worn and shows heavy use with a few chips on the forearm, nicks and dings on the stock with a gouge by the comb and retains most of an old refinish.
