WHITNEY KENNEDY SADDLE RING CARBINE. Cal. 45-60. SN F644. Scarce carbine, one of about 1000. It has the large frame with 22″ rnd bbl, full magazine, barleycorn front sight and orig reverse mounted carbine ladder rear sight. The receiver has a stud & ring in the left side and it has the early “S” shaped lever. It has straight grain American walnut wood with straight grip and crescent buttplate with trap. CONDITION: Good to very good. No orig finish remains, being a smooth even gray/brown patina with some scattered spots of light rust and one spot of moderate rust on the receiver. Wood is sound and retains most of an old refinish. Mechanics are fine, strong bore with moderate pitting. From the collection of the late Bruce McDowell. 4-54597 JR175 (1,500-2,500)
