COLT 1878 HAMMER SIDE BY SIDE SHOTGUN. SN 21490. Cal 12 ga. 30″ Damascus bbls, concave rib with sgl brass sighting bead, FULL/FULL choke, 2-3/4″ chambers, extractors and dbl triggers. The back action side lock receiver with exposed hammers and marked on each plate “COLT’S PT. F.A. MFG. CO.” Mounted with nicely figured walnut, checkered rnd knob pistol grip, smooth steel shotgun butt, checkered splinter forend with slight schnabel and triangular ebony tip insert. Bore diameter: left -.727, right -.724. Bore restrictions: left -.025, right -.025. Wall thickness: left -.037, right -.028. Drop at heel: 3-1/4″, drop at comb: 2″. Weight: 7lbs. 14oz. LOP 14-5/16″. CONDITION: Fine. Bbls retain strong brown Damascus pattern, some areas of light thinning, some areas of dark spotting, and normal minor nicks & dings. Receiver is a smooth silver patina with traces of orig color in protected areas of hammer and top lever, some normal minor light scratches. Stock is sound with slightly worn checkering, normal minor nicks & dings, a shallow dent in comb, and retains orig finish with a probably thin coat of added finish and blending with hand worn patina. Buttplate is a brown/blue patina. Forend is sound with moderately worn checkering, a couple small chips missing from around edge, normal nicks & dings and retains a hand worn patina blended with hand worn patina. Mechanics are crisp with re-bounding hammers, shiny bore with some moderate shallow scattered pits. 4-39798 BDT104 (3,000-5,000)
