FINE ROCOCO ROSEWOOD MARBLE TOP CHEST OF DRAWERS, PROBABLY NEW YORK. Mid-19th century. The scrolling, pierced, carved-leaftip crest above the molded arched rectangular mirrorplate within a molded rosewood surround, mounted and swiveling on a pair of carved supports with C- and S-scroll leaftips, the centers with incised cross-hatching joined by fleur-de-lis punch decoration, fixed on a rectangular inset white marble, set within a gadrooned molded edge above the conforming case with canted corners and scrolled leaftip corbels, fitted with two aligned short drawers over two long drawers, all applied with scrolling leaftips, the latter with carved rosewood leafy pulls, above the scrolling and molded apron, flanked by bracket feet raised on casters. SIZE: Approx. 77″ h. x 47-1/2″ w. x 24″ d. PROVENANCE: From an extensive private Gulf Coast collection. CONDITION: Professionally cleaned, restored, and refinished.
