WENCESLAS VACLAV VON BROZIK (Czech Republic/Austrian, 1851-1901) THE PRESENTATION. Outstanding large and important oil on canvas scene depicting an extended eight-person family who are gathered in a lavishly decorated room. A young girl in white dress with an older girl & boy stand in front of their grandparents who are seated with their father standing beside. The young girl is presenting a bouquet of flowers, the boy plays a lute and the older girl has an open page of sheet music. The girl’s mother is seated with feather fan watching the event and another woman in white dress looks over her shoulder. The lavish room setting includes large portraits, large hand painted collector’s cabinet, fancy clock, red carpet and large potted plant. Signed lower right “Brozik”. Housed in a magnificent gesso decorated gilt frame. The artist has executed the figures in great detail along with a realistic, aristocratic interior. Brozik was known for depicting Royalty in his paintings and this very well could be a high level aristocratic family or Royalty. SIZE: 35″ x 48″. CONDITION: Center has fine craquelure with flecking, otherwise surface dirt and will brighten under cleaning. Very good. 9-24387 (20,000-30,000)
