*SCARCE A.H. FOX XE GRADE DBL BBL SHOTGUN. Cal. 12 ga. SN 22088. Fine high grade Philadelphia Fox with 30″ Krupp fluid steel bbls choked IMP-CYL/IMP-MOD with tapered concave matted rib, dbl ivory beads, cross bolt rib extension, ejectors & dbl triggers. It has the Philadelphia address. Receiver is very nicely engraved with vignettes of two flying ducks on left side, two flying quail on right side & a large fox on bottom. Trigger guard has a blank initial shield. Vignettes are all surrounded by well executed oak leaf patterns which extend 1-7/8″ up the bbls & on bbl extension. Trigger guard, forend iron, opening lever & top tang are engraved to match. Mounted with highly figured burled American walnut with checkered black insert splinter forearm & rnd knob semi-pistol grip with checkered side panels, 14-1/4″ over an Old English pad. Drop at the heel: 2-1/2″, drop at the comb: 1-9/16″. Bore restrictions: left – .008, right – .030. Wall thickness: left – .029, right – .024. Bore diameter: left – .720, right – 696. Weight: 7 lbs. 00 oz. CONDITION: Very fine. Bbls retain 95-96% strong orig blue with some thinning over forearm area & a few scattered light scratches. Receiver retains 35-40% case colors, primarily in sheltered areas, with balance turned silver. Wood is sound & retains most of a professionally restored finish with freshened checkering. Mechanics are crisp, bright shiny bores. It appears that left bore may have been opened from a tighter choke. 4-55474 JR80 (8,000-12,000)
