*RARE HAENEL AYDT SMALL BORE GERMAN SCHUTZEN RIFLE. SN 18285. Cal. 5.3 mm. Beautiful lightweight Schutzen with 31″ half octagon fluted bbl with ramp front sight base & a Dockendorfer globe front sight with sliding cover. It has a quarter rib in top flat mounting a clock key adjustable open rear sight & has a pedestal mounted clock key adjustable tang sight with large disc diopter. Mounted with an uncheckered walnut schnable tipped forearm & typical Schutzen buttstock with checkered straight wrist & massive contoured cheekpiece with thumb rest on right side. It has a typical light Schutzen buttplate with short heel & medium prong on bottom. Receiver has a finger rest Schutzen trigger guard with dbl set triggers. Typical Aydt receiver has takedown lever & extractor lever on left side and is lightly engraved with geometric patterns on top three flats & a light border around sides. Bottom of bbl has “BUG” proofs with caliber marking forward of forearm lug & the orig caliber marking “5.4 mm” behind the lug that has been crossed out & the date “10/23” indicating manufacture in October 1923. PROVENANCE: Dr. Frank Miller Estate Collection. CONDITION: Extremely fine. Bbl retains about all of its strong, dark, orig blue finish & front sight ramp about all of its orig case colors. Rear bbl sight retains virtually all of its orig factory case colors & fire blue. Receiver, lever & buttplate retain virtually all of their strong orig case colors, slightly faded on receiver & lever, more faded on buttplate. Wood is sound with a few minor handling & use marks, a couple of small gouges on wrist & retains most of its orig factory oil finish.
