JAPANESE BLUE DECORATED GINGER JAR WITH COVER. 19th century Japanese. Ginger jar is decorated overall with mountainous river landscapes with buildings and small boat in foreground. Moriagi decorated; lid decorated overall with dogwood blossoms. With overall craquelure on ivory ground. SIZE: 9-1/2″ h x 9-1/2″ dia. PROVENANCE: Paper label affixed beneath lid reads “Shipped from Sasebo, Japan. Dec 1945. By A.Geo. Clemens Sr. Made at Imari Kyushu”. CONDITION: Overall very good. Jar body with small dent in the making beneath glaze. Minor and minimal losses to Moriagi and with small fleabites to upper rim of jar. 9-22507 (400-600)
