*FINE CUSTOM ENGRAVED SMITH & WESSON CHIEF’S SPECIAL DA REVOLVER. SN 69722. Cal. 38 Spcl. Fine early Chief’s Special with 2″ bbl, fixed sights, flat latch & mounted with beautiful smooth pearl grips. Revolver has about 70% coverage beautiful foliate arabesque patterns on frame, cylinder & bbl. Frame has gold wire border on both sides with a narrow gold band at rear edge & a continuous narrow gold wire around flutes. Sideplate is inlaid with a deep relief engraved gold bobcat. Work is unsigned but undoubtedly was done by someone with decent skill. PROVENANCE: Dr. Frank Miller Estate Collection. CONDITION: Very fine to extremely fine, all matching except grips which are unnumbered. Overall retains just about all of its fine custom finish with only slight muzzle edge wear, has been fired but very little. Hammer & trigger retain about all of their orig factory case colors. Grips are extremely fine, need fitting & have great color & fire. Mechanics are crisp, brilliant shiny bore. 4-36211 JR297 (3,000-5,000)
