SCARCE COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY REVOLVER. Cal. 45 Boxer Long. SN 22864. Nickel finish with 7-1/2″ bbl with Hartford address and replacement 1-pc walnut grips. Accompanied by two Colt factory letter identifying this revolver and stating that it was shipped October 25, 1878 to Colt’s London Agency in a shipment of 30 guns of the same type. The type of grips and bbl length are not listed. This gun is illus. on pg 31 of The 36 Calibers of the Colt Single Action Army by Brown. CONDITION: Fine. Retains about all of a bright restored nickel finish. Frame markings, caliber markings, British proofs and serial numbers on the trigger guard and backstrap were obliterated during the refinishing process.
