DONG KINGMAN (ZENG JINGWEN) (American, 1911-2000) “PARIS OPERA”. Outstanding watercolor scene shows the elaborate Paris opera house with its multistory facade. An artist is seen painting on a large canvas and a photographer photographs a group of seven men in tuxedos. Several figures are at a small outdoor cafe seating. Signed lower left. Housed in a fine gilt carved wood frame with linen liner and glass. REFERENCE: Exhibited in the “Watercolors by Dong Kingman” January 13-February 13, 1960 at the Wildenstein, New York Exhibition, No. 34. A 4-page photocopy of this exhibition is included.
