‘LOUIS XVI’ STYLE PARQUETRY AND GILT-BRONZE MOUNTED BONHEUR DU JOUR, GRADE FT. PARIS. Last quarter 19th century. The rectangular upper case with sarcophagus top, three-quarter cast-brass gallery, and cast floral mounts, above a pair of cupboard doors, each with a painted porcelain plaque within a cast surround, above a pair of aligned drawers stepped back on the table base with concave frieze and scalloped edges, fitted with a long drawer with baise-lined writing slide, the drawer lock engraved “GRADE Ft/Rue de Paix/PARIS”. Raised on tapering, angular, cabriole legs with scrolled feet, the whole inlaid with scrolling vinery on inlaid geometric ground. SIZE: 54″ overall h. x 29″ w. x 19″ d. PROVENANCE: From an extensive private Gulf Coast collection. CONDITION: Retains original surfaces. All mounts original, with very good patina. Small drawer knobs absent. 9-93521 (3,000-5,000)
