*INTERESTING WINCHESTER MODEL 21 GRADE 4 SIDE BY SIDE SHOTGUN. SN 30055. Cal. 12ga, 26″ bbls, matted, tapered, concave rib, red Bradley front and silver center sighting beads, WS1/WS2 chokes, ejectors and single selective trigger. Outside of bbls are unmarked except for narrow band of scroll engraving at chamber end, flats are stamped with serial number and “12 GAUGE 2-3/4 CHAM.”. The step side receiver is engraved with the grade 4 pattern with 2 ducks in flight on left side, 2 quail in flight on right side, and a setter & pointer on point on trigger plate. This is accented with some foliate, arabesque scrolls. Trigger guard has gold initials “JLW”. Mounted with nicely figured walnut, checkered pistol grip, sculpted metal grip cap, Winchester solid red recoil pad, checkered beavertail forend with scroll-engraved metal. Bore diameter: left -.734, right -.739. Bore restrictions: left -.006, right -(.012). Wall thickness: left -.030, right -.030. Drop at heel:3″, drop at comb: 1-7/8″. Weight: 7lbs. 11oz. LOP 15″. Accompanied by Cody Firearms Museum fact sheets: first one identifying as standard duck gun, 12ga, 30″, FULL/FULL, 3″ chambers, selective ejectors, automatic safety, pistol grip, duck finish, W.R.P. butt, started on 2-16, 1954, finish date 2-26, 1954. Other remarks: order 90248, extra set of bbls, 12ga, 26″ SK1/SK2 5-25, 1955. Second page repair order from Kelley Sporting Goods, Clayton, MO, checked in as 12ga, 30″, FULL/FULL, M.R.P.G. with #4 engraving, J.L.W. gold block on guard, Winchester recoil pad 14-7/8″. Condition, forend catch altered, ejection sear R.H. fails to operate properly. Work ordered adjust for proper loading, feeding, extraction and ejection. Date started: 2-21, 1967, Finish: 4-13, 1967. Other remarks: fair condition with normal, considerable wear, stock & forend dented, rust on metal parts including bbls and action. CONDITION: Fine. Bbls retain 97% factory restored finish with a few minor nicks & scratches, 3 small spots near muzzle of fine, surface oxidation and rub mark from forend. Receiver retains 75-80% of a factory finish worn across bottom and blending with silver patina, some flaked spots on side blending with brown patina. Stock is sound with good checkering, factory high-gloss finish with numerous nicks, dings & scratches. Forend is sound with good checkering, metal surfaces blue blending with silver patina, factory high-gloss finish blending with hand-worn patina. 4-40013 BDT83 (5,500-7,500)
