RUSSIAN SILVER & NIELLO CIGARETTE CASE. Beautiful Russian silver cigarette case has front cover with half being pierced openwork of flowing flowers and vines and other half being Niello enamel in floral designs. Back of case has two separate Niello enameled floral designs separated by a diagonal tooled border. Interior of box is stamped “84” and maker’s stamp. Inside also bears an inscription which appears to be in Russian and dates 1917. SIZE: 4-1/2” x 3”. CONDITION: Area of inscription has had gold wash crudely scraped away, probably done by person inscribing, otherwise very good. 5-64606 (800-1,200)
