ROLF ARMSTRONG (American, 1890-1960) “VENUS”, NUDE WOMAN SEATED AT LAKE’S EDGE. Pastel calendar illustration shows a blonde nude young woman seated on a green grass bank with her reflection seen in royal blue water. Her head held up high looking toward viewer. The appearance of being bathed in a bright moonlight with shadows cast. Signed in right grassy bank “Rolf Armstrong”. Housed in a fine gilt molded wood frame. REFERENCE: Full page illustration on second frontice page of “The Great American Pin-Up” by Martignette/Meisel. Also illustrated on page 121 of “The Glamour Art of Rolf Armstrong Pin-Up Dreams” by Dobson/Wooldridge who indicate that its title was Venus circa 1934.
