NEW ENGLAND QUEEN ANNE CARVED WALNUT SIDE CHAIR. Mid-18th century. Probably Rhode Island. The yoked crest continuing to shaped stiles centering a shaped and chamfered vasiform splat joined to the trapezoidal slip seat frame, the rails arched and scalloped, raised on frontal cabriole legs and blocked cylindrical backswept rear legs, joined by a block-turned recessed box stretcher. SIZE: 41″ h. of back. CONDITION: Clean, polished, and restored. With replaced seat blocks and original seat frame. Interesting tenon construction on front legs at stretchers.
