*RARE TEXAS/MEXICO ASSOCIATED COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY REVOLVER. Cal. 45 Colt. SN 331153. Blue & case colored with 4-3/4″ bbl and beautiful fleur-de-lis checkered deep Colt medallion, walnut grips. The cylinder is the rare long flute dbl action style. A Colt factory letter fully identifying this revolver and indicating shipment November 24, 1914 to Shelton Payne Arms Co., El Paso, TX, accompanies it. The type of stocks were not listed and it was in a shipment of three guns. It goes on to state that it was shipped with the long flute dbl action cylinder. The time frame in which it was shipped coincides with the Pancho Villa period and the Mexican Revolution, and the fact that it was delivered to El Paso lends the thought that it certainly could have been used by or against the Mexicans. Also included is an invoice from Turnbull Restorations indicating this revolver was restored in 1997. CONDITION: Very fine with Turnbull’s extraordinary restoration. Retains all of this fine finish with brilliant Colt-like case colors and blue. Grips have a tiny hairline by the left medallion, otherwise do not appear to have been touched. Crisp mechanics, bright shiny bore with a spot or two of scattered light pitting. 4-53895 JR525 (6,000-10,000)
