JAMES WARD (British, 1769-1859) THE SEARCH IS ON. Oil on wood panel scene shows two boys and three dogs searching a warehouse with discarded barrels and wood for the unseen lost critter. Everyone is looking below a large wood tub which may hide the creature. Signed on the side of a wood plank “Jas Ward”. Housed in a fine scallop shell decorated period frame having artist plaque. SIZE: 14″ x 13″. PROVENANCE: Private Boston area collection. CONDITION: There is a painted over section 1″ x 3″ just below the blue bag which does not show under blacklight.
