PAIR ‘HENRI II’ CARVED ROSEWOOD SERVING TABLES, LABELED “GUERET ET GUERET/PARIS”. Third quarter 19th century. Each rectangular molded top projecting above a conforming carved frieze, the first fitted with a long drawer; the second fitted with a hinged drawer, marble-lined, the top also hinged and opening to the drawer. Both raised on tapering, ring-turned, columnar supports headed by acanthus-carved keystone pilasters on stepped bases, the rear supports centering a rectangular beveled mirror plate joined to lower shelf, raised on suppressed ball feet. The backboard of each piece stamped with the label “GUERET FRES GUERET/MEUBLES SIEGES/PARIS”. SIZE: Each 39-1/2″ h. x 43-1/2″ w. x 23-1/2″ d. PROVENANCE: From an extensive private Gulf Coast collection. CONDITION: Tables retain original finish, with rich chocolate brown color.
