FINE CHINESE CARVED IVORY DOUBLE DRAGON STATUETTE. 19th century. Carved from an archaic ivory tooth and mounted on a carved hardwood stand depicting two spiraling five-toed dragons chasing and playing with a ball decorated with flower heads and symbols (sometimes called a dragon ball). The treatment of the carving with attention to the natural discolorations of the archaic tooth. SIZE: Overall: 6″ h. CONDITION: Very nice patina with gradations in color. Structurally very good with natural age cracks. With small and minimal losses. 9-22321 (2,500-3,500)
