*SCARCE SPRINGFIELD MODEL 1911 SEMI-AUTO MILITARY PISTOL. SN 102630. Cal. 45 ACP. Usual configuration with 5″ bbl, fixed sights & large diamond checkered walnut grips, from 2nd Springfield Contract. Accompanied by a rare, orig, folded base, lanyard loop magazine with copper slide pad at top rear. Bbl bushing, hammer, slide lock & bbl are all orig Springfield equipment with a tiny “S” proof. No further disassembly was affected to check for other Springfield parts. Slide has usual markings with flaming bomb proof at left rear end & another on left side of frame above magazine release. Left side of frame also has “UNITED STATES PROPERTY”. Right side of slide has the Springfield eagle & “MODEL OF 1911 U.S. ARMY”. Accompanied by a “1914” dated Rock Island Arsenal swivel holster missing its leg strap. Flap has usual “US” in an oval with “COLO” stamped below. CONDITION: Very good to fine. Slide retains traces of blue in most sheltered areas, being mostly a blue/gray patina. Frame also retains a blue/gray patina with some fine pitting on front strap. Grips are sound showing heavy wear with one battered screw. Mechanics are fine, strong sharp bore with fine pitting. Holster is very fine with some slight flexing on flap and retains most of its orig finish. 4-33495 JR155 (2,000-3,000)
