CHARLES DANA GIBSON (American, 1867-1944) “A YEAR OR TWO LATER-GREAT UNCLE TAG MAKES A NEW WILL”. Pen & ink illustration shows an extended family around a table with what appears to be a lawyer looking at a piece of paper while the great uncle holds a young infant in his arms with the mother standing over his shoulders. Everyone seems pleased except the two sons who appear to be unhappy over the new will. The pen & ink is over a pencil sketch and some faint pencil outlines. Signed lower right. Also titled in a window under matte and on reverse a piece of paper indicating “Life, September 22 1904”. Housed in a modern silvered frame with gilt matte. This is pictured in “The Gibson Book II” “A Collection of the Published Works of Charles Dana Gibson, 1907″. SIZE: Sight: 19-1/2″ x 28-1/4”. PROVENANCE: Artist’s family by descent.
