ROYAL WORCESTER SEVENTEEN PIECE HAND PAINTED GAME BIRD SET. Royal Worcester mark to bottom in black, date letter indicates 1889. Ribbon above mark “Royal Worcester Vitreous”. 17-1/2” x 13” platter has bird head and wing handles and brown transfer flowers on border. A scene of pheasant amongst smaller pheasants in landscape. 7-1/2” sauce tureen with deer handles and grouse in landscape scenes. Matching cover with naturalistic handle and decoration, has hole for ladle. Two 7” x 5” smaller dishes with similar bird and wing single handle decorated with grouse. An 8” x 5” scallop handled dish also has grouse. Twelve 9” shaped edge plates with different birds in landscape. Backs marked “W3425”. An outstanding set with beautiful decoration.
