*EXTREMELY RARE WELLS FARGO COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY REVOLVER. Cal. 45 Colt. SN 276297. Blue & case colored with 5-1/2” bbl, slightly altered front sight with 2-line patent dates and rampant Colt in a circle on left side of frame. It has rampant Colt hard rubber grips that are unnumbered. Bottom of buttstrap is marked “W.F. & CO.”. Accompanied by a copy of a Colt Factory letter fully identifying this revolver with factory engraving on butt as found, shipped March 22, 1906 to Wells Fargo & Co., c/o W.M. Ashton, Purchasing Agent, New York, NY, in a shipment of six same type guns. CONDITION: Very good to fine. Traces of blue remain at bbl root with traces of case colors in the most sheltered areas of the frame with overall appearance being a mottled silver/brown patina with some fine pitting on right side of frame. Muzzle edge shows moderate to heavy wear. There are three notches filed on backstrap. Grips are fine, showing light to moderate wear, turned slightly chocolate. Mechanics are fine, strong bright bore with scattered fine pitting. 4-31164 JR484 (6,000-10,000)
