VERY RARE EARLY PARKER “$125 GRADE” LIFTER ACTION HAMMER GUN WITH ORIGINAL CASE. SN B972. Cal. 14ga. 30″bbls, tapered, concave rib with single brass sighting bead, extractors and dbl triggers. Top rib is marked from chamber “PARKER BROS MAKERS MERIDEN CONN LAMINATED STEEL”. The lifter action is marked “PARKER BROS” on each plate with minimal chip and dot border.This is similar to the description of the $125 Grade as described in the 1869 and 1872 price lists and as seen on p. 233 of The Parker Story. Mounted with dark, straight grain walnut, blank initial shield on top of wrist, checkered straight grip, smooth steel buttplate, checkered splinter forend with single wedge. In an attempt to measure chambers they are slightly tapered, measuring approximately .771 down to .766 and appear to be approximately 2-1/2″ in length. Bore diameter: left -.739, right -.737. Bore restrictions: left -.004, right -.003. Wall thickness: left -.030, right -.027. Drop at heel:2-3/4″, drop at comb:1-3/4″. Weight: 7lbs. 5oz. LOP 14-1/8″. Accompanied with a period “Black Walnut” case with green felt lining, wooden dividers drilled to hold 50 shells which are filled with 26 UMC Company Club #14 Fired Hulls. Lid contains 3-pc wooden cleaning rod, wooden 2-pc decapper. These cases are listed for $10 in the early catalogs. CONDITION: Good to Very Good. Bbls retain a silver patina with some brown twist pattern showing in spots, normal nicks & dings and some dark spotting. Receiver retains a smooth silver-gray patina with some dark spotting. Stock is sound with moderately worn checkering, some normal, minor nicks & dings and retains a dark oil finish. Forend is sound with worn checkering, normal nicks & dings and retains a dark oil finish. Bbls are slightly off face with a little wiggle. Non-rebounding hammers are solid in all notches. Bores have moderate to significant pits. Case is in nice condition with intact leather handles and normal nicks, dings & scratches to exterior. 4-39880 BDT131 (6,000-8,000)
