*EARLY MBA GYRO JET MARK II MODEL C SEMI-AUTO PISTOL W/BOX. SN 317. Cal. 12 mm. Made of stamped sheet metal with black matte finish, a 5″ bbl and mounted with smooth walnut grip panels. Scarce and unusual pistol that fires a 12 mm rocket projectile that accelerates to 1,250 FPS in .12 seconds. Pistol fires from a fixed magazine in the grip that is loaded one round at a time from the top. The rearward striking hammer forces the projectile onto a fixed firing pin which ignites the rocket mixture which in turn is expelled through small venturis in the base of the projectile. The projectile, in traveling down the bbl, recocks the hammer for the next round. These pistols were made in limited numbers in the period 1966-1969, initially in 13 mm. That projectile exceeds .50 caliber which was classified as a destructive device so the company reduced the projectile to 12 mm (49 caliber) to comply with the law. The projectiles were never very accurate and ammunition was prohibitively expensive, so they were never accepted by the buying public or the military. Accompanied by its orig 1-pc cardboard box and instruction sheet with orig cardboard shipping sleeve. CONDITION: Appears to be new & unfired. Retains virtually all of its orig factory finish. Box is crisp, instruction sheet is slightly yellowed and shipping sleeve is lightly stained. 4-39259 JR283 (1,000-2,000)
