CASED COLT BISLEY FLAT TOP TARGET SINGLE ACTION REVOLVER. Cal. 455 Eley. SN 180941. Blue finish with 7-1/2″ bbl, flat top frame with rectangular based partridge style front sight and dovetail rear sight. It has the English style all-blue frame with checkered trigger and beautiful checkered 2-pc ivory grips. It has tiny British proofs on the bottom of the bbl and in each flute. It is accompanied a fine English oak casing, blue felt lined with compartment for an oiler, a brass & iron wiping rod and a small nickeled oiler. The front left section of the case is taken up with a mahogany cartridge block that contains 30 rnds of US, Kynoch and unmarked Webley ammunition. Also accompanied by a Colt factory letter fully identifying this revolver with checkered ivory grips and indicating shipment December 14, 1898 to Colt’s London Agency in London, England. CONDITION: Very fine. Bbl & frame retain 92-93% strong orig factory blue, thinning on the sides of the bbl and top strap with a couple of small cleaned spots on the left side and thin on the left recoil shield. Cylinder retains about 80-85% thinning orig blue. Trigger guard retains about 60-65% orig blue with very faint serial numbers. Backstrap retains 50-60% orig blue, thin on the strap, strong & bright around the hammer. Hammer retains 60-70% faded case colors, bright in the sheltered areas. Grips are extremely beautiful, having a dark gold patina showing light to moderate wear and are slightly shrunken around the frame. Mechanics are crisp, brilliant shiny bore. Case is fine with a few grain checks around the brass medallion in the lid and the lining is lightly soiled showing moderate wear but completely intact.
