*RARE SMITH & WESSON 32 SEMI-AUTO PISTOL. SN 235. Cal. 32 ACP. Blue finish with 3-1/2″ bbl and has fixed sights integral with the slide. Slide has usual markings with the Smith & Wesson logo on left rear side of frame. Mounted with deep silver S&W medallion smooth wood grips and has a grip safety in front strap with no manual thumb safety. While this pistol had a relatively long production period, it had the misfortune of following Smith & Wesson’s less than successful 35 caliber pistol and was introduced just before the great depression of 1920’s & 1930’s. There were only 957 of these pistols produced in the period 1924-1936. The design of this pistol and quality of its manufacture was superior to almost all of its competition but the extra cost involved in producing it was not well received during the Depression and so was discontinued after only these few pistols were produced. CONDITION: Extremely fine. Overall retains about 97%-98% strong glossy orig factory blue with only slight muzzle edge wear on slide & bbl and faint sharp edge wear on frame. Grips have a few light nicks & scratches and retain traces of orig varnish, being mostly a hand worn patina. Magazine is crisp & clean. Crisp mechanics, brilliant shiny bore. 4-39272 JR268 (2,000-3,000)
