PARKER BROTHERS D GRADE LIFTER HAMMER GUN. SN 6687. Cal. 10ga, 32-1/8″ bbls, tapered, concave rib with single brass sighting bead, 2-9/16″ chambers, extractors and dbl triggers. Top rib is marked from chambers “PARKER BROS MAKERS MERIDEN CONN DAMASCUS STEEL”. The lifter action is nicely engraved with setter on left plate, pointer on right, “PARKER BROS” under each hammer accenting foliate scrolls and a stylish border around each plate. Bottom of receiver has portrait of a pointer’s head and trigger plate stamped “NOV. 13. 66 / MAR. 26. 75.” Bolsters are nicely fluted and scalloped and trigger guard engraved with pointer on point. Mounted with nicely figured walnut, spear tip drop points, blank gold initial shield on top of wrist, checkered round-knob pistol grip, checkered butt with skeleton plate, checkered splinter forend with single wedge. Bore diameter: left -.802, right -.801. Bore restrictions: left -.010, right -.007. Wall thickness: left -.033, right -.042. Drop at heel:2-9/16″, drop at comb:1-3/4″. Weight: 9lbs. 0oz. LOP 14-1/2″. The book Parker Gun Identification and Serialization lists as D4 Lifter action, straight grip, 10ga with 32″ bbls. CONDITION: Fine. Bbls retain a dark brown Damascus finish, thinning and blending with silver patina in forend area, a small cleaned area that is blending with silver patina and minor nicks & dings. Receiver retains strong orig case colors on plates, thinning & blending with silver patina across bottom. Stock is sound with a professionally repaired crack running through top of wrist between lock plates. Nicely freshened checkering, typical minor nicks & scratches, a crack about 3/4″ in length at rear of comb at buttplate and retains a fine professional restored oil finish. Forend is sound, good checkering with a couple of flat points, minor nicks & dings and retains a fine, professional restored oil finish.
