PARKER BROTHERS GRADE 2 HAMMER SIDE BY SIDE SHOTGUN. SN 53773. Cal. 12ga, 30″ bbls with matted, tapered concave rib, single silver sighting bead, FULL/FULL chokes, 2-9/16″ chamber, extractors and dbl triggers. Top rib of bbl is marked “PARKER BROS MAKERS. MERIDEN CONN. DAMASCUS STEEL”. The number 2 grade receiver is engraved on each plate “PARKER BROS” with 2 game birds on left plate and 2 ducks in flight on right, circle with 2 game birds on bottom with balance of engraving a foliate arabesque scroll. Top lever is fish-tail style. Mounted with nicely figured walnut, blank gold initial shield on top of wrist, checkered pistol grip with sculpted hard rubber grip cap with checkered center, Parker’s Dog’s Head hard rubber buttplate, checkered splinter forend. Book Parker Gun Identification and Serialization identify as Grade D2, grade 2 with Damascus bbls, top action, cap pistol grip, 12ga, with 30″ bbls. Bore diameter: left -.751, right -.755. Bore restrictions: left -.028, right -.028. Wall thickness: left -.029, right -.028. Drop at heel:2-5/8″ , drop at comb:1-3/4″ . Weight: 8lbs. 3oz. LOP 14-1/4″. CONDITION: Fine. Bbls show dark brown Damascus pattern, minor muzzle wear, thinning and blending with silver patina from carrying in forend area. Minor dent in left bbl about 11″ from chamber and typical minor nicks & scratches. Receiver shows 80% orig case colors, very strong on plates, thinning & blending with silver patina across bottom and over fences. Stock is sound with nice checkering, some normal nicks, dings & shallow dents, orig finish thinning across comb and blending with hand-worn patina in grip area. Forend is sound with minor grain crack at tip on right side, slightly worn checkering, minor nicks & dings and retains a hand-worn patina blending with orig finish. Mechanics are crisp, nice bores with some minor, scattered pits and visible dent in left bbl. 4-40674 BDT97 (3,000-5,000)
