WILLIAM THOMSON (American, 20th Century) “SKETCHBOOK SERIES, SEARCH FOR HOMER.”. Oil on canvas half portrait of Winslow Homer standing in front of a wall decorated with two of his paintings. The bottom quarter having a six-line script verse which is illegible. Signed lower right “Thomson”. Housed in a gray painted wood frame with white wood liner.Reverse having an exhibit entry card with title, artist, etc. Thomson studied in Connecticut under Ernst Lohrmann, at the Paier Art School, and at the Meriden Trade School. His solo exhibitions include the Van Ward Gallery in Boston and Oqunquit, ME. SIZE: 35-1/2″ x 28-1/2″. PROVENANCE: Collection of Elwyn Dearborn, Medford, NJ; Portland, ME.
