*SCARCE JAPANESE BABY NAMBU SEMI-AUTO PISTOL. SN 2054. Cal. 7 mm Nambu. Fine, well made little pistol that looks like the larger Pappa Nambu with blue finish, 3-1/4″ tapered rnd bbl, barleycorn front sight & groove rear sight. Receiver ring has connecting three circles monogram of the Koishikawa Arsenal & it has Japanese characters on right rear side. Mounted with full checkered walnut grips & accompanied by one matching numbered magazine & a spare magazine numbered “4177”. Also accompanied by a reproduction Baby Nambu clamshell holster with strap & 8-rds of reloaded ammunition in pouch. Additionally accompanied by a baggie of loose orig ammunition. These very scarce pistols were generally awarded as military academy honor graduate prizes by the Emperor. Others were private purchase by high ranking Japanese officers. PROVENANCE: Dr. Frank Miller Estate Collection. CONDITION: Very fine to extremely fine. All visible numbers are matching. Overall retains about 98% strong orig factory blue with faint muzzle edge wear, a thin spot on right front of slide & a slightly thinned back strap. Grips are sound with a small chip on top left & show very light wear. Orig magazine is crisp & new, spare magazine is about 98%. Mechanics are crisp, bright shiny bore.
