*FINE SMITH & WESSON PRE-MODEL 29 DA REVOLVER WITH BLACK CASE. SN S156410. Cal. 44 Mag. High luster blue finish with 6-1/2″ ribbed bbl, red ramp & white outline adjustable sights, target trigger & hammer and diamond checkered magnum grips pencil numbered to this revolver but probably not by the factory. These grips are, however, probably factory original to this revolver. Accompanied by an orig black leatherette covered display box with gold embossed S&W logo on the lid with “44 MAGNUM” underneath. It is lined in orig blue velvet satin with orig knurled aluminum handled screwdriver, a cleaning rod & brush and mop. The Model 29 has been one of Smith & Wesson’s best sellers and are reasonably common in today’s market. However the pre-Model 29, with its high luster blue finish, is not at all common and finding one today in near unfired condition with its orig black presentation box is rare indeed. CONDITION: Extremely fine plus, all matching including bbl & cyl with grip numbers as noted above. Overall retains about 99% crisp high luster orig Smith & Wesson factory blue with one tiny spot on left edge of muzzle and a faint cylinder drag line. Trigger & hammer retain all of their crisp orig case colors. Grips are equally crisp & new. Revolver has been fired but very little. Case has slightly worn corners & edges with a few minor storage & handling lines and retains virtually all of its orig covering. Interior is lightly faded with minor, light to moderate soil and light damage from front & rear sights and hammer spur. Altogether a fine early set. 4-39141 JR303 (2,000-3,000)
