RARE COLT SHERIFF’S OR STOREKEEPER’S MODEL FRONTIER SIX-SHOOTER SINGLE ACTION REVOLVER. Cal. 44 WCF (44-40). SN 159323. Very rare single action with 4″ bbl, 2-line address, roll marked on the left side “COLT FRONTIER SIX-SHOOTER”. Made without ejector rod housing with no provision for one. It has rampant Colt hard rubber grips. Very few authentic sheriff’s models are known and when one is encountered commands great attention and high prices. A Colt Factory letter, dated 1972, indicates this was made for J. H. Sengleton and shipped to Dunlay & Geisler in Houston, Texas Marc 26, 1895. CONDITION: Fair to good. No orig finish remains being a very dark brown patina overall with moderate pitting over most of the metal surfaces, heavier on the cylinder and recoil shield. Grips are very worn, nearly smooth and likely are old replacements, having another number scratched on the inside. Mechanics are fine. Strong dark bore. 4-53821 JR608 (8,500-15,000)
