RARE COLT FLAT TOP TARGET SINGLE ACTION ARMY REVOLVER. Cal. 44 S&W (44 Russian). SN 158905. Beautiful target sgl action, all blue finish with 7-1/2” bbl, block letter Hartford address with caliber on left side. It has a German silver target front sight in a rectangular base with a dovetail target rear sight on top strap. Frame has 2-line patent dates with rampant Colt in a circle and is fitted with rampant Colt hard rubber grips numbered to this revolver. Only about a total of 925 of these rare revolvers were made in period 1888-1896 with a few in later years and only 51 were made in this caliber, making it one of the more rare Colts. CONDITION: Fine to very fine. Overall retains 65-70% strong, orig, bright, glossy blue with light muzzle wear and some flaking to medium patina on cyl. Front & backstraps are a plum brown patina. Frame retains strong blue on sides, thinning & turning brown on the recoil shield & loading gate. Mechanics are fine, bright shiny bore with some light frosting just forward of the forcing cone. Grips are fine showing light to moderate wear, turning slightly chocolate. A good, honest, flat top target, worthy of any collection. 4-30719 JR427 (15,000-20,000)
