*EXTREMELY RARE WALTHER 480 CODE “PRIVAT” MARKED P38 SEMI-AUTO PISTOL TWO BARREL SET. SN 3055. Cal. 9 mm & 30 Luger. Extremely rare pistol with bright, high polish blue finish, two 5″ bbls, in listed calibers. The 9 mm bbl has Nazi eagle proofs & eagle “359” Waffenampts on right side of lug & breech block. The 30 caliber bbl has eagle “N” proof in same positions. Right side of frame has eagle “N” proof with eagle “359” Waffenampts on slide lock & side of frame, overstamped with “Privat”. Slide has usual markings on left side with an eagle “359” Waffenampt in front of rear sight & an eagle “N” proof on right front of slide. Fitted with checkered black composition grips that are marked on inside with “480” code & an eagle “359” Waffenampt with other markings & proof marks and accompanied by an eagle “359” Waffenampt marked magazine. Also accompanied by the orig war trophy certificate dated Nov. 17, 1945 to Lloyd E. Daniel identifying this pistol by serial number. Not only is the 480 Code P38 a great rarity, the “Privat” marked frame is doubly rare & to have matching numbered 9 mm & 30 caliber bbls is virtually unknown. This pistol undoubtedly would have belonged to a high ranking civilian official in Nazi government. CONDITION: Extremely fine, all matching including both bbls, slide & frame. Magazine & grips are unnumbered but undoubtedly are orig to this pistol. Overall retains 97-98% strong, glossy, orig factory blue with a few scattered spots of rust on each side of slide. Front strap is a little thin. Grips are sound with crisp checkering showing extremely light diamond point wear. Mechanics are crisp, bright shiny bores with a slight roughness in 30 caliber bore. 4-35603 JR263 (12,500-17,500)
