WINCHESTER MODEL 1886 LEVER ACTION TAKEDOWN RIFLE.

WINCHESTER MODEL 1886 LEVER ACTION TAKEDOWN RIFLE. Cal. 45-90. SN 113426. Standard grade rifle with 26” tapered oct bbl, full magazine, nicely figured, uncheckered wood having straight stock & crescent steel buttplate. It has half-nickel front sight & semi-buckhorn rear sight. Accompanied by a Winchester Museum letter identifying this rifle as having been shipped Nov. 7, 1899 (the Madis Dates of Manufacture book indicates that it was manufactured in 1898). CONDITION: About very good. Retains an overall medium dark plum brown patina with traces of blue in the very sheltered areas. Receiver has a couple of scratches on the left side with some fine pitting on the right side. Magazine tube has fine pitting. Wood is sound and retains most of an old refinish.
