*RARE BAKER GUN COMPANY PARAGON GRADE SIDE BY SIDE SHOTGUN. SN 622. Cal. 12ga, 28″ bbls, matted, tapered concave rib with dual ivory sighting beads, IMP.CYL/FULL chokes, 2-3/4″ chambers, extractors and dbl triggers. The side lock receiver is game scene engraved left plate with setter and 2 quail accenting foliate arabesque scroll, right plate has pointer and 2 snipe with accenting scroll, balance of engraving is a fine foliate arabesque scroll. Fences have a bold, relief-engraved scroll with punch dot background. Frame on each side below plate engraved “BAKER GUN CO.” Trigger guard has scroll engraving and oval with initials “JEG”. Mounted with nicely figured walnut, multi-point checkered pistol grip with sculpted hard rubber grip cap, monogram and checkered hard rubber buttplate, multi-point checkered splinter forend with sculpted ebony tip insert. Bore diameter: left -.738, right -.729. Bore restrictions: left -.037, right -.008. Wall thickness: left -.042, right -.048. Drop at heel:3″, drop at comb:1-3/4″ . Weight: 7lbs. 12oz. LOP 13-3/4″. CONDITION: Fine. Bbls retain strong Damascus pattern with minor muzzle wear, some thinning in chamber area and minor nicks & scratches. Receiver retains strong orig case colors, mostly in protected areas, thinning & blending with silver patina on plates and silver & brown patina across bottom. Stock is sound with stable hairline crack on each side of top tang running to side plate, checkering is good with some slightly worn points. Retains orig finish with normal minor nicks & handling marks and blending with hand-worn patina in grip and checkering area. Forend is sound with a grain crack running on left side of ebony insert down to the checkering. Checkering is slightly worn and carries orig finish blending with hand-worn patina across bottom. Mechanics are crisp with non-automatic safety, shiny bores with some minor, very shallow pits in left bbl. A rare American made side by side. 4-40672 BDT96 (2,000-3,000)
