*SCARCE SMITH & WESSON FIRST MODEL 44 HAND EJECTOR TRIPLE LOCK DA REVOLVER. SN 13157. Cal. 44 Spcl. Blue finish with 6-1/2″ bbl, integral half moon front sight and groove rear sight in top strap. Side plate has the S&W logo and it is mounted with 2-pc deep gold medallion ivory grips. These scarce revolvers were manufactured in the period 1907-1915 with 15,375 produced in that time in four different bbl lengths and eight different calibers in both blue & nickel. PROVENANCE: John Irwin Estate Collection. CONDITION: Good to very good, all matching except grips which are unnumbered. Overall retains 70-75% orig blue with most of the losses from long term holster storage in a damp climate creating pitting around front end of bbl, on front sight and in two spots on the right side of frame with scattered pitting on sideplate. Grips have a few minor age lines and are completely sound and retain a wonderful mellow ivory patina. Mechanics are fine, bright shiny bore with some minor surface spotting on one land. 4-36800 JR137 (1,500-2,500)
