OUTSTANDING AND IMPORTANT FOUR PIECE LAMINATED ROSEWOOD CARVED PARLOR SET ATTRIBUTED TO CHARLES BOUDOINE, NYC. Note: For similar sofa but not the same see American Furniture of the 19th Century by Dubrow, page 117. Set consists of large three-part sofa, armchair and two side chairs. All upholstered in a green velvet material. Laminated solid backs with heavy pierced carving as follows: Sofa: Central sofa back has carved face with leaf as tongue. Above head is a spray of well carved leaf formed hair. Pierce carved foliate decoration with top area having full cut roses. All flanked by two large chair backs that have pierce carving with flowers, leaves and scroll designs with grapevine and cluster sides. Padded arms are supported by pierced carved rose, flower and scroll designs. Serpentine front with carved central area all supported on two French style carved legs in front and two legs in back. The chair backs are solid back with center section having upholstered panel. SIZE: 45-1/2” h x 28” d x 82” w. Arm Chair: Similar carving to sofa chair back having padded arms, over upholstered seat and shaped cushion back. Side supports have similar pierced carving with grape clusters, roses and scrolls. Front legs are carved French style with front caster feet. SIZE: 43-1/2” h x 17” seat h x 24” across front. Two Side Chairs: Similar carved side chairs with caster front feet, solid backs, shaped upholstered back cushion and over upholstered seat. SIZE: 37” h x 17” seat h x 19” across front.
