EXTREMELY RARE BROOMHANDLE MAUSER LARGE RING PISTOL CARBINE. SN 603. Cal. 7.63 MM Mauser. Blue finish with 15-7/8″ tapered rnd bbl, ramp front sight with silver bead & a 500 meter rear sight. Top of chamber has standard markings with standard Mauser markings on left side of frame. Hammer spur has large ring with concentric rings surrounding central hole. Mounted with very nicely figured, uncheckered fiddleback walnut with semi-schnable tipped, tapered rnd forearm & pistol grip buttstock with Mauser logo hard rubber buttplate. Tip of forearm & bottom of stock have sling eyes orig to the gun. This pistol is pictured on p. 204 of The Broomhandle Pistol 1896-1936, Erickson & Pate. Very few of these commercial carbines were ever made with a limited number of those having been imported into United States. CONDITION: Extremely fine, all matching including wood & appended metal. Bbl & receiver retain 98-99% strong, bright orig blue with beautiful fire blue on extractor, firing pin retainer, sight slide & safety. Wood is sound with some clamp marks on forearm & a few minor nicks & scratches elsewhere and retains about all of its orig factory varnish.
