*RARE BERGMANN MARS MODEL 1903 SEMI-AUTO PISTOL. SN 288. Cal. 9 mm Bergmann. Most unusual pistol with blue finish, 4″ ribbed bbl with integral wedge shaped, half moon front sight & raised fixed rear sight on a platform at rear of pistol. This early pistol borrows from the Model 96 Broomhandle Mauser with a detachable box magazine in a housing in front of trigger guard & incorporates a Broomhandle Mauser style thumb safety. Accompanied by an orig box magazine with serial number “763”. Fitted with full checkered wood grips. Only about 900 of these pistols were made in this caliber & never became popular, consequently few have ever been imported into the U.S. CONDITION: Fine to very fine. Overall retains about 88-90% dull orig blue with muzzle & sharp edge wear with front & back straps turned brown. Magazine retains about 75% orig blue. Trigger & hammer retain about 95% orig straw colors. Right grip has a chip at top front, otherwise they are sound showing moderate to heavy wear.
